CCNA

The Basics:

The CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) does not sit at the beginning of the Cisco Certification pathway, that honor belongs to the CCT Routing & Switching cert, but if you have a bit of experience with networking or are eager to learn then the CCNA might be right for you.

There are no prerequisites for this exam, but having experience as an entry level network engineer, help desk technician, or experience with Cisco network systems is advised. If you pass this exam the certification will remain active for 3 years before you have to pass a qualifying exam or earn 30 continuing education credits.

Exam Cost: $300

The CCNA covers the fundamentals of networking, including:

  • Network Fundamentals

  • Network Access

  • IP Connectivity

  • IP Services

  • Security Fundamentals

  • Automation and Programmability

Our Review:

Soler is scheduled to take this exam at the end of September and promises to report back on the testing experience. Early reports are concerning though, when registering to take the exam through Pearson they read the terms and conditions and were required to agree to all their palm vein pattern the be scanned and recorded. Which as a privacy minded community has us concerned, even though they say you can opt out later on.
